Turning a Gaming Community into a Player Engagement Platform

Gaming · Social Platforms

From almost zero interaction to 4+ minutes per visit.

An established gaming community had a large registered user base but almost no meaningful interaction. FLP Catalyst brought product leadership, research and hands-on delivery to help redefine its purpose and integrate player-focused features into the gaming experience—contributing to substantially increased DAU, WAU and MAU, and average engagement of more than four minutes per visit.

The Challenge

An eight-year-old gaming community had a large registered user base but almost no meaningful engagement. Players went elsewhere to connect, share and compare experiences.

The business needed to give the community a clear purpose, improve retention and create opportunities for future monetisation.

What FLP Catalyst did

We provided product leadership, aligned the executive team and led hands-on delivery and implementation.

Through research into player behaviour, gaming communities and successful learning experiences, we identified ways to make the community genuinely valuable to players.

We introduced:

  • Personal game-performance statistics.

  • Comparisons with friends and other players.

  • Real-time performance comparisons with professionals.

The features were integrated into the game, giving players a reason to return and engage.

The Outcome

Average engagement increased to more than four minutes per visit/session, from almost no interaction.

The relaunch also drove a substantial increase in daily, weekly and monthly active users.

The Impact

A neglected social platform became a purposeful part of the player experience—with a stronger foundation for retention and future growth.

Is your product delivering the value you intended?

Sometimes the opportunity isn’t to build more—it’s to understand what’s missing, what matters to users and how to turn that insight into meaningful engagement.

If you’re looking to improve product engagement, strengthen retention or accelerate delivery, let’s talk about what’s getting in the way.
